5 Ups & 2 Downs For AEW Collision (Jan 13 - Results & Review)

4. More Willie Mack TV Time

AEW Collision Dustin Rhodes Willie Mack
AEW

He may have ultimately come up short against Dustin Rhodes, and that match may have only clocked in at four minutes, but any time Willie Mack is on TV is a good time.

Much like Lee Moriarty, Willie Mack is somebody who Tony Khan and AEW should be looking to do more with in 2024. Mack is simply too talented and too damn entertaining to be left kicking his heels in Ring of Honor.

While your writer had some mild hope that maybe Willie would get the somewhat shock win here, it soon became apparent that the bigger story was giving Dustin Rhodes some momentum ahead of challenging Christian Cage for the TNT Title. And in that regard, the match worked fine for what it needed to be, with Mack getting a few moments to showcase his personality and energy, receiving some post-match respect from Dustin after the veteran had scored the win with the Final Cut.

One could argue that, at this stage of his career, Dustin Rhodes doesn't need to be getting these sorts of wins and being lined up as a title challenger, but not only should the match against Cage be great, it also establishes that Christian is eager to take out anyone who considers Adam Copeland a friend.
