5 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (June 13)

4. Zack Ryder's Low-Key Return

With Mojo Rawley, WWE have continued their annual tradition of doing precisely nothing with the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal winner. Mojo has wrestled just three matches since taking the trophy on April 2nd, and while he has been seen openly campaigning for a bigger role on the blue brand, his efforts were for nought.

Fortunately for him, things are looking up. Mojo’s tag team partner Zack Ryder quietly returned to SmackDown last time, surprising Rawley in a backstage segment, stating that they had “unfinished business” as a team. He’s right: the duo are still technically owed a title shot from the battle royal they won when Ryder got injured in December, so there’s a strong chance they’ll now be hot-shotted into the championship scene.

The segment itself wasn’t anything special, but Mojo has been lost as a singles act, and has really missed his partner. Zack’s comeback should allow The Hype Bros to pad-out the tag scene, and while their gimmick gets obnoxious in anything greater than small doses, the division needs bodies. They’ll hopefully prove themselves as solid additions to the group, though a title run seems unlikely with The New Day and Usos around.
