5 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE King And Queen Of The Ring (Results & Review)

1. Logan Plays The Perfect Foil

WWE King and Queen of the Ring 2024 Logan Paul Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes’ pure babyface act worked tremendously well while he struggled to finish the story and overcome the evil Bloodline and their numbers game. But once he won the title, the question became whether he could maintain crowd support during these title defenses or if it would wane.

WWE had a very simple solution for that for King and Queen of the Ring: Put an easy-to-hate Logan Paul in the ring across from Cody and watch the fans draw battle lines themselves. Paul was booed throughout their excellent match Saturday, with the Maverick using brass knuckles to his advantage and wounding Rhodes, forcing Cody to overcome his injuries and finally put Logan down.

The two told a simple, but really good story throughout, with Logan peppering Cody’s midsection with punches and various offensive moves – including a breathtaking frogsplash off the turnbuckle through the announce desk – but it still wasn’t enough to topple the champion. Cody even broke out a Vertebreaker in 2024 to snuff out Paul.

The simple fact is that Cody is a tremendous babyface, and fans are still entirely behind him. But throwing a cheating, loudmouth “influencer” against him was just another way to rally fans to Rhodes’ side and maintain that momentum as champion.
