2. Brock Lesnar Ruins John Cena’s Moment

The action between Cena and Sami was so well worked and convincing that those in attendance seemed to forget that WWE wouldn't want to beat either guy. Brock Lesnar's music hit late on, and 'The Beast' walked in to haul the referee out of the ring then hit dual F5s on both Zayn and JC. If you're gonna stop such a fun match short, then this is the way to go about it.

Before Clash In Paris, this same writer said that Brock hitting another F5 on Cena over in France would've been considered a nightmare for the PLE. Not necessarily for fans at the show, but just stylistically for the viewer. Weekly television works differently - this was a pulsating addition to the SmackDown format sheets, even though it was effectively the same spot as back at SummerSlam last month.

Everything, from Cena's babyface promo and Sami's challenge to their match and Lesnar's run-in, made for a top, top segment. WWE plated up star power, drama, stakes (the US Title was on the line) and put it all in front of a fired up live crowd who reflected that energy right back at the ring. What an atmosphere by the end.

Post-match, Brock cut a short but sweet promo confirming that he'll see Cena at Wrestlepalooza. He also called him a "bitch", because pro wrestlers are apparently contractually obliged to say that word on camera at least a handful of times per year. It's the biz's go to insult most of the time.

Really strong stuff that made Cena look helpless next to Lesnar.
