5 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 26 - Results & Review)

3. It Was Always Ending Via DQ, But…

LA Knight Solo Sikoa

...LA Knight and Solo Sikoa have some obvious chemistry.

It's interesting that LA constantly takes the fight to Solo, because that in turn brings more out in Sikoa than a babyface showing fear would. That's cool and all, but it only goes so far. LA's lack of trepidation when going nose-to-nose with The Bloodline brute has been noticeable during his beef with the faction, and it's working for him.

The disqualification finish WWE went with for this main event was fine. It wouldn't have done much to beat either man clean when that was totally avoidable; that's especially true for Knight. Pinning him pre-Rumble title shot would've been creative suicide. Thank God the writers didn't lay that on him!

AJ Styles rushing out to get involved fits in with what he's been doing too. The OC leader (still a thing?!) doesn't like how LA conducts himself, so he keeps poking his nose into Knight's business as revenge. Again, it's simple storytelling, but it's getting the job done.
