5 Ups & 3 Downs For AEW Collision (April 20 - Results & Review)

Downs...

3. An Odd Choice

AEW Collision Action Andretti Eddie Kingston
AEW

While it made sense that Adam Copeland, Eddie Kingston, and Mark Briscoe would want a warm-up match before facing House of Black at AEW Dynasty, pitting the three babyfaces up against Top Flight and Action Andretti was a bit of an odd choice.

The match itself was solid - more on that later - but could we have not found a heel trio for Copeland, Kingston, and Briscoe to face? Just as a suggestion off the top of your writer's head, but how about the Iron Savages and Jacked Jameson? Those three always make for a fun time, would have been perfectly fine eating a loss, bring a nice slice of 'meat' to the table, and Bronson and Boulder in particular are worthy of more AEW TV time.

Pitting these mega heroes against the Martins and Andretti resulted in the three young high-flyers being booed at times. Again, this is only a minor Down, but it was nonetheless a questionable choice, particularly when any variety of three fodder heels could've been used in this spot.

Also, as a standard complaint from this old man who shouts at clouds, this was yet another of those AEW matches where tags end up being completely ignored and all involved spend way too much time in the ring without any pushback from the referee - especially in the closing minutes.
