5 Ups & 3 Downs For AEW Collision (Oct 14 - Results & Review)

1. As Excellent A Main Event As You'd Expect

AEW Collision Christian Cage Bryan Danielson
AEW

Bryan Danielson is forever one of the very best - if not the best - wrestlers on the planet, and Christian Cage is an exceptional talent who may well be on the greatest run of his career. This was always going to be great, and boy did it deliver.

Danielson's selling was as majestic as has come to be expected, with Cage targeting Bryan's right arm throughout a large chunk of the match. Seeing the American Dragon using the ringside fans to help him to his feet was a fantastic touch, all as the unrelenting Christian lay in wait for Danielson whenever he'd get back into the ring or manage to briefly escape the Canadian's punishment. Likewise, the Blackpool Combat Club man selling the impact on his arm of hitting his own moves - such as the top rope diving headbutt or a dive to the outside - was another nice wrinkle from Bryan.

AEW Collision has a history of delivering good-to-great-to-exceptional main events throughout the show's burgeoning lifespan, and Danielson vs. Cage was yet another fantastic way to close out the promotion's Saturday show.

Of course, Christian Cage being Christian Cage, he managed to find a way to overcome Bryan Danielson and retain the TNT Title. That "way" obviously has huge thanks to Big Bill and Ricky Starks, with Bill distracting referee Bryce Remsburg and allowing Absolute the chance to clock Danielson with his AEW Tag Team Title - which in itself led to a post-match brawl featuring Cage, Danielson, Starks, Bill, Luchasaurus, Nick Wayne, FTR, and Adam Copeland as Collision went off the air.

Also, as ever, extra props to Nigel McGuinness for never missing a moment to berate Brittle Bryan, with each insult only adding further anticipation to hopefully seeing long-time rivals McGuinness and Danielson locking up one final time.
