5 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dark (Jun 30)

Downs...

3. Griff Garrison vs. Ricky Starks

It's a shame this didn't work as Ricky Starks could have looked like a million dollars against the right enhancement talent, changing his trajectory after the excellent TNT Championship match with Cody. Unfortunately, Griff Garrison entered a sloppy performance. He was out of sync with Starks for much of his, botching his timing on a number of spots including an arm drag sell that was comically overdone and a corner charge that saw him run through Ricky's boot, rather than into it. That one looked like a tooth-rattler.

Starks' work looked decent and his leaping Spear finisher is great, though the rub was undermined by factors outwith his control. Let's hope he gets somebody more cohesive next time.
