3. Women's World Title Programme Continues To Mystify
The women's division is probably at its best, which isn't saying a great deal, but Tony Khan simply cannot help himself.
Toni Storm Vs. Harley Cameron cut to commercial almost as soon as the bell rang. The sequencing continues to be a disgrace, and Khan cannot wrap his head around the fact that booking Harley Cameron in such a way is utterly pointless. It does nothing for Toni Storm for starters. There are scores of inexperienced women wrestlers who have reached a plateau after going through the impresses early/doesn't get enough ring time cycle. Cameron feels doomed already, but to her credit, after whiffing a spot during the break and simply redoing it because she's nowhere near experienced enough to improvise, she was remarkably tight given that she has wrestled just 23 matches. AEW collaborates with STARDOM these days. An excursion could be a viable solution at last. Storm Zero won it for Toni after a shockingly decent closing stretch.
Looking...weird, frankly, Serena Deeb watched on from the ramp with a fixed grin on her face and a flag draped over her shoulder. It is impossible to determine who the face or the heel is in this World title programme. Storm is funnier and more charismatic, so the crowd sides with her. They're both acting like heels. Storm attempted to sucker punch Deeb last week; this week, Deeb tried to distract Toni.
Here's the refrain many are now bored of hearing: at least the pay-per-view match will be good.
Storm cut a really funny backstage promo earlier in the night at least, referring to herself as "the old wh*re that you all adore".
She's 28.
