5 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Dynamite (May 15 - Results & Review)
1. Chris Jericho Remains At Large
AEW
HOOK defeated enhancement talent Sebastian Wolfe in a pointless squash that served as a backdrop for Chris Jericho to get his TV time, which of course is one of his bits now. He rubs your face in that which you hate about him, all with disingenuous delivery. In a shocking grab for relevance even by his standards, this cadence is identical to that which Matthew Jackson adopted several months prior. Jericho is in effect playing the same insincere faux-babyface.
Jericho also responded to the "Please retire" chants by saying he isn't ready - and you aren't ready, either. It would very much appear as though you are. What's he going to do, perform until he's 80 because it would get him a load of "heat"? He already feels 90 in wrestling years.
Some more talking happened. Basically, HOOK has to win a match to get another crack at the FTW title. In an admittedly funny visual gag, HOOK bonked Jericho on the crown with a mic, drawing blood.
Later in the show, Katsuyori Shibata intimated that despite aligning with HOOK and saving him in the segment earlier, he wants another shot at the FTW title himself. HOOK and Shibata agreed that they'd fight one another if it came down to that.
HOOK's bad career arc of "can't co-exist with latest tag partner before they feud" Must Continue.
