5 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling Rebellion 2020 (Part 2)
1. This Ain't It, Chief
Joey Ryan's transformation into Joseph P. Ryan just isn't working. The whole Cancel Culture thing doesn't suit the character we all know and love, no matter what he tried to do. There were a few issues within his match against Cousin Jake that resulted in a fairly dismal encounter;
1. The company can't even get his name right, calling him 'Joey Ryan' on the official YouTube upload. This now marks two weeks in a row where something like this has happened, with Josh Mathews getting Dave and Jake Crist mixed up during part one last Tuesday.
2. Ryan focused his attack on Jake's arm throughout the match, which apparently meant less and less as the match went on. Despite suffering several manoeuvres to his arm, Cousin Jake didn't have any problems using said arm for a couple of lariats.
3. Why change his character in the first place?!
Not necessarily a bad match overall, seeing as Cousin Jake put in some great offence, including a suicide dive that a man of his size shouldn't be capable of. Until we get the old Joey Ryan back though, this may end up becoming a common occurrence throughout this column.
