5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (11 Sept - Results & Review)

1. Sami Wins Amidst Sheer Chaos

And what a wild finish it was.

Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae tried to help Sami, mainly because Gargano wanted to be first in line for a title shot as promised. Then, once that plot failed, Kevin Owens ran out but accidentally hit Punk with the belt when he was going for Zayn (Kev wasn't too gutted by that and managed a smirk). One low blow to KO and a Helluva Kick to Punk later and Sami was WWE Champion all over again. Nobody saw that one coming, let's be honest.

All going well, this title reign should last a little longer than the last one, but that was brilliant chaos to close us out and it again sold how competitive the main event pack is around this place. WWE might want to slow down a little on the title changes lest people start to think this is WCW Nitro and Thunder though! OK, maybe not. We don't have Vince Russo running around the place to yell: 'IT'S A SWERVE, BRO', so all is right with the world.

Seriously, that mayhem-filled closing stretch on SmackDown was reminiscent of the best from the 'Attitude Era'. To continue flinging compliments WWE's way, get this: Sami came out looking every bit as opportunistic as peak 'Rated-R Superstar' Edge, and now he's the one who goes from hunter to hunted in one of the busiest title pictures one can remember for a long, long time.

Sami's champ all over again, a steaming mad Punk is out for revenge, and there's a lengthy list of hungry challengers in-waiting. Owens, Gargano, Gunther, Finn Bálor, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes are all in the spotlight too. It's great.
