5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 18)

2. New Blood Needed

No, not the dodgy old WCW stable.

The women's scene on SmackDown badly needs some fresh faces who are credible enough to challenge IYO SKY for her belt, because Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair and the like are same old, same old. Further, why was Belair so chirpy about teaming with Charlotte here? Doesn't that go against the prior story?!

Bianca thought Charlotte muscled in on her business during the SummerSlam hype, but they were totally fine on SmackDown. That doesn't make much sense, and actually almost makes a mockery of the build towards the last PLE. The company must pick a direction and stick with it.

Again, the actual match was fine enough, but Damage CTRL's post-match beating on Belair suggests more of the same is incoming. Hey, at least Bianca vs. IYO would be a fun ride bell-to-bell. More babyface Belair doesn't sit right though - she needs change.
