5 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Jan 6)

Ups...

5. Kofi Kingston = Bulletproof

Some pro wrestlers could lose pretty much every match from now until the end of their careers and still remain over. Kofi Kingston is one of those workers - he's built up enough cred with fans to last a lifetime, and so nobody should take umbrage with his loss to Santos Escobar on SmackDown.

Kofi went out of his way to make Santos look great, and he even managed to work in a tease for what's to come at the Rumble by tossing Escobar over the top rope. That was appreciated, especially because Michael Cole and Wade Barrett could then weave in their own hard sell for the pay-per-view.

Good stuff.

Nothing life-changing here, or anything, but Kofi vs. Santos was a tidy little 10-minute TV match that secured the heel a much-needed singles win over a former WWE Champ. That should be celebrated, and it won't hurt the New Day legend one bit either.
