3. Dynamite First Impression

Dynamite Kid Tommy Billington AEW

Speaking of cracking little matches.

What a debut showing that was from 'Dynamite Kid' Tommy Billington. Young Tommy has paid tribute to his legendary uncle by carrying on the Dynamite name, and the original would've been well proud of his nephew's efforts on AEW TV this week. Billington looked like he'd been part of All Elite's roster for years.

The dude writing this piece was lucky enough to commentate some of Tommy's formative matches on the indy scene, and it was clear he always had something about him even as a teenager. Of course, his great performance on Saturday will only count if AEW follows up on it - they rarely do, which is a pity.

Dynamite got a nice reception from fans and showed up well against Dax Harwood. Tony Khan would be doing himself a favour by following up on these good first impressions more than he does. Should he sign Billington then sit him in catering? No. Should he sign him then develop him on ROH or on shows like Rampage? Yes, but there has to be a game plan and career trajectory.
