5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dark (Sep 29)

3. Tay Conti vs. Red Velvet

Tay Conti
AEW

Tay Conti scored her first AEW singles victory over Red Velvet and looked good in doing so, showing flashes of potential in her showcase spot.

Conti is clearly very dedicated to this. There are incremental improvements in her work every time out, most notably in the striking department, where she appears to be living up to her climbs of diving into the Tomohiro Ishii vs. Katsuyori Shibata feud as research. She worked with pop and snap and of course, her martial arts experience gives her a unique stylistic flavour.

Anna Jay cheered her partner on from ringside, hitting the ring after Velvet had been submitted. This led to Brandi Rhodes chasing the duo off to seemingly established a tag bout - potentially for next week's Dark.
