5 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dynamite (April 17 - Results & Review)

Orange Cassidy Shayne Taylor
AEW

"Shane Taylor Promotions have become a force in AEW, no doubt" said Excalibur after Orange Cassidy defeated Shayne Taylor. Why bother adding to the stable if they're just going to continue to lose? What does that accomplish?

Cassidy Vs. Taylor was well done in and of itself. Orange twisting out of a suplex attempt to hit the Stundog Millionaire was a superb counter that put over his babyface fire and intelligence, but Cassidy endured Taylor and the interference of Lee Moriarty and Anthony Ogogo on the outside, which was booking cowardice. It had been established that Cassidy was without friends on the night (to have made this clearer, AEW perhaps shouldn't have made him tag with 80% off the roster last year).

At a minimum, Trent should have cost him the win; that way, the Best Friends split would have been advanced, and Shayne Taylor Promotions might have at least masqueraded as a threat. It's not as if the stable is a main event concern, but they have to win at times so that beating them means something. As it happens, they exist to facilitate other developments as a pure contrivance. It's a shame.

There is a great deal of talent across the dynamic of the group. Khan is too afraid to beat certain wrestlers even when it makes zero sense - on two levels - for them to win.
