Downs...

4. Serviceable But Honestly Kinda Pointless

Jey Uso Chad Gable

First up, the bad. Sorry in advance if you disagree with any/all of it.

Boston was hot for Jey Uso straight away, which is cool, but there was pretty much nothing to his opening segment opposite Chad Gable. Jey welcomed everyone to Monday Night Raw (can we quit it with that, please?!), then Gable joined in to talk some trash before the Wyatt Sicks popped up to...do nothing.

Intimidation can be a powerful tool for heels, but this wasn't nearly as effective as WWE wanted it to be. After all, the group are primarily intimidating Chad Gable, and he's one of the least likeable characters on the show these days. What's the deal here? Every story deserves time to develop, sure, but this skit missed the mark.

In retrospect, opening with a match or another segment might've been the better call. Uso's sole purpose on Monday seemed to be saying hello and welcome to everyone watching. He had sod all else of note to say before Gable's interruption.
