5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (7 Nov)

4. Farewell 24/7 Championship

It’s only fitting that a trash championship ended up in the trash on Raw Monday night.

Nikki Cross defeated Dana Brooke for the long-forgotten 24/7 Championship, a title she once pursued doggedly as Nikki ASH. But Monday, she walked around in a stupor with the title draped across her shoulder as Damage CTRL followed her backstage. As she walked past a refuse bin, she slid the title off into the container (well, it actually missed the can).

It was such an ignominious end to the 24/7 title, which started as a joke, then became an actually funny in-joke, only to become that bad joke that gets retold until you want to puncture your eardrums to avoid hearing it again.

Ever since Triple H took over WWE in late July, the title had all but disappeared, so it resurfacing suddenly on Monday felt like a warning sign. And then Nikki did her best Madusa or Scott Hall (remember the WCW Television Championship?) impersonation in ditching the title.
