5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Aug 12)
2. That Main Event
The match, rather predictably, kicked ass.
Gunther vs. Nakamura was always going to be good. Did it exceed expectations? Nah, not really, because everyone knew these dudes would have in-ring chemistry. Best of all, they're probably even capable of better if WWE books a repeat on pay-per-view sans ad breaks.
Everything, from the spotlight on his championship to the way he defended it, made Gunther look like one of the strongest IC Champs in recent memory. SmackDown was a super-promising sign that Triple H is right behind the secondary belt - he did something similar with the US strap over on Raw.
If you're a fan of hard-hitting wrestling matches with no frills and excellent action, then check this one out ASAP. Kudos must go to the commentary team for getting right into it, and to WWE's creative team for giving Gunther the clean finish.
