5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (June 5)

4. Sheamus Gets His Receipt

As aforementioned, Sheamus and Jeff Hardy are genuinely trying to make this occasionally decent/occasionally ludicrous redemption story feud work. This week, it was the Irishman who got the last laugh by bouncing Jeff off the surrounding plexiglass and then Brogue Kicking his face off.

Fair enough.

It was the smart play to make Sheamus look strong, because the ultimate success of this rivalry really hinges on Hardy getting revenge on pay-per-view. Now, WWE has confirmed that he'll get that chance come Backlash next weekend. If they can resist pulling the rug from underneath Sheamus again, like they did last week, then WWE might be onto something good here.

Sheamus was rightly out for blood of his own after Jeff cost him his chance to become the next Intercontinental Champ against Daniel Bryan last week. There was nothing flashy here, just honest-to-goodness pro wrasslin' drama that worked.
