5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (June 5)
Ups...
5. A Fun Six-Man Tag
Shorty G is still a damn fine wrestler.
When he's not asked to stand there and take the world's lamest height jokes from heels who should've really told WWE creative to beat it by now, Chad Gable shines. The same, in fairness, goes for Mojo Rawley too. He came out looking great in an amazingly-fun six-man tag that had enough in-ring zip to make up for the lack of purpose.
This one was straight up fun from first bell to last, and it crucially didn't outstay its welcome on the episode. If you're in the mood for a harmless showcase of tag anarchy, then you can do much worse than this New Day and Gable vs. Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura and Rawley match.
Just don't expect much logic (Michael Cole pointing out that the referee didn't see illegal man Cesaro's uppercut on Shorty didn't make much sense when the same official had ignored illegal man Naka's Kinshasa seconds before). For what it was, this was solid.
