5 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (May 20)

2. How Many Times?!

Xavier Woods Butch

Butch has been beaten by Xavier Woods using the exact same finish three times now. Three times! Would it kill creative to come up with something fresh? Woods can beat Butch, that's fine, but the scrappy heel shouldn't be losing to the same old, same old time and time again.

That makes him look stupid.

There's a general malaise afflicting this whole New Day vs. Sheamus/Ridge Holland/Butch feud too. It's blatantly going nowhere, and the 50/50 booking doesn't help. Also, what the heck happened to Woods' royal gimmick? That was plonked on the scrap heap in a hurry, wasn't it?

None of these lads have any sort of direction, and that's hurting them badly. They're going through the motions creatively, but trying their best when the bell sounds. Sadly, that effort doesn't seem to be enough for...whatever WWE wants this to be.
