5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite: Homecoming (4 Aug)
2. The Super Obnoxious
The Super Elite came off like the worst guys in the universe last night, bullying, chastising and beating down the already broken Hangman Page, who hit the ring to earnestly patch things up with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks in the middle of the show.
Reeling from last week's 10-man loss, Page broke off his relationship with the Dark Order in an earlier segment, saying he needed to solve his problems by himself. This meant that when much of the Order piled out to save Hangman from the Elite, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson held them back. They respect their friend's wishes - even if it means him getting hurt.
A cruel, cruel beatdown of the beloved Page, who was finished off with a shot from Omega's AEW World Title. He enters the latest part of his character arc with another mountain to climb though it was clear, coming out of this, that AEW still plans on building towards him vs. Omega someday. It just won't happen at All Out.
And that all of this came after a wonderfully ridiculous basketball segment in which the Elite asserted that they have nothing left to do as champions made it even better. There are horizons left for them to conquer, as Page's fightback will prove, but they are too blinkered to even acknowledge them.
