5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (June 28 - Review)

Downs…

5. MJF & Adam Cole Have Chemistry, But...

MJF Adam Cole
AEW

Are AEW failing to learn from their mistakes with the current MJF/Adam Cole storyline?

It's nothing new for the 'Salt Of The Earth'. His feuds are typically paced this way - a light and fluffy early offering obscures the devastating switch sociopathic finale, but the MJF character is such a scumbag that a lot of time needs to be spent on the babyfaces and audience growing to enjoy the bond before he rips it away. That they already exhibited chemistry in their first segment together last week set the stall out well too.

This week, the inherent flaw in the booking strategy was all too clear. Adam Cole told Roderick Strong on camera that he was wise to all of this nonsense and playing the long game, even laughing off that the AEW Champion would never even see this because he doesn't watch the show. Fine, but he's young, online and plugged in. He will get wind of this and could even mention it as reason for him snapping on Cole down the road, but that makes the babyface the arrogant and ignorant schmuck rather than the heel.

The two aren't going to win the Blind Eliminator tournament, but it might be wise to get on with wrestling in it. The magic of all of this lies there, not within copy-of-a-copy backstage vignettes.
