5 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (Oct 14)

1. Just Really Good Tag Wrestling

Claudio Castagnoli Jon Moxley The Butcher Blade
AEW

Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley vs. FTR must happen at some point either before the end of 2022 or in 2023. The BCC lads work really well together as a team (even more so than Mox and Danielson, to be honest), and they proved that on Friday against the ever-improving Butcher/Blade combo.

That was a superb opener for Rampage. It was a step up from the kind of fare AEW has been putting on the show lately; they even managed to splice in some killer commentary lines that questioned how smart it was for Moxley to wrestle ahead of his match vs. Hangman Page this coming Tuesday. That was smooth.

A mid-match standoff garnered that Canadian crowd pop, and the double lariat that happened after it looked sweet too. Everything clicked during this tag. It should be a reminder to Tony Khan and company creative that they've got something special with the Claudio/Mox pairing.

They're tag title challengers in the making.
