5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (1 May - Review)

UPS…

5. False Hope

Let’s assume that Damage CTRL’s days are numbered as a unit and that Iyo Sky and/or Dakota Kai are going to turn on Bayley because the group just hasn’t been successful under her guidance.

So why would you book Bayley and Kai to defeat the reigning WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan? Isn’t that counter-intuitive?

Two words: False hope.

They’ve long established that Bayley is a failure as leader of this stable, but if they keep losing all the time, Kai and Sky look stupid for staying with her. But if they win a decent match once in a while, it reinforces staying around a bit longer. No one can seriously think Damage CTRL is going to win back the tag titles at this stage, but maybe if they lose a title match and Sky loses her Raw (SmackDown?) Women’s Championship match, it’ll be enough to push them over the edge to ditch Bayley.

It's not a tremendous story, but if we’re reading this correctly, this wasn’t a bad move. Of course, if Damage CTRL is staying together and winning the tag titles, that’s just a colossally bad move and this is all moot.
