5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (1 May - Review)

4. Can’t Understand, But That’s OK

We English-speakers often lose sight of the reality that many superstars who get on the mic aren’t communicating in their native tongue, but it really is impressive how they communicate in a language that’s secondary and still get their message across.

But it also makes us appreciate it more when WWE lets them cut loose in their native tongues. Damian Priest got to unload on fellow Puerto Rican Bad Bunny in Spanish, speaking right past many of the fans and audience and directly to Bunny and the host island for Backlash. Rey Mysterio would add some Spanish when he came out later, but that’s also something he’s done for years.

Later, backstage, Iyo Sky once again blasted Bianca Belair ahead of their Raw Women’s Championship match for the EST’s title in Japanese. When Kai went to translate, Bianca waved her off, noting that she understood Iyo clearly.

Obviously, WWE can’t do this all the time, but it’s really nice to see this, especially since the company bills itself as a global leader.
