5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (29 July - Results & Review)
1. Lot Of Words, Little Said
For months, one of WWE’s hottest ongoing rivalries has been the long-simmering Drew McIntyre versus CM Punk feud. Despite Punk being on the shelf for nearly all of 2024, the two have managed to keep their confrontations white-hot, making their SummerSlam match one of the most-anticipated bouts of the weekend.
But Monday’s go-home promo was far from the hard sell you’d expect, nor was it even a very good recap or fire-fans-up segment. It dragged on for quite a while, with McIntyre, Punk, and Seth Rollins all saying the right things (more or less), but nothing new being unearthed. Punk and McIntyre tried to give their greatest hits promos, but the reality is that they peaked a week or two too early, leaving their remarks to fall short of having the bite they clearly wanted. They would have been better served to have aired a slick video package of their feud (with Adam Pearce banning both men from the arena to preserve the match) and had Rollins do a solo promo about his hatred for both.
Still, this is overall one of the best things WWE has had going in 2024, so it remains a hot ticket. It’s just a shame that this was the last entry
