Downs…

5. Fact-Checking WWE

Since the beginning of professional wrestling, exaggeration of facts has been part of the show. And WWE, a company that has inflated attendance records for decades, is in a league of its own.

However, it’s one thing to exaggerate the size of a wrestler or fudge attendance figures. It’s another thing entirely to flat-out lie about easily verifiable facts. But that’s what happened Monday night when WWE threw up a “Fact of the Night” graphic toward the end of Raw.

The graphic boasted that WrestleMania 41 will be Roman Reigns’ 11th time main-eventing WWE’s biggest show of the year. There’s just one small problem: It’s his 10th time closing a Mania (or at least one night of 'Mania).

Count along: WrestleManias 31, 32, 33, 34, 37, 38, 39, 40 (twice), and 41. That’s 10. There’s no wiggle room here or way to fabricate one.

Most likely, this is a simple counting error, but for the love of all that is holy, how hard is it to ask someone to double-check that statistic before making a graphic and blasting it out to the masses?
