Jey Uso Refuses To YEET, Gets Serious On Raw (WWE News)

'Main Event' Jey Uso cut his greatest ever promo on WWE Raw.

Following Gunther's brutal attack on his twin brother Jimmy last week, last night's WWE Raw saw an intense, serious Jey Uso confront the Ring General and promise to take the World Heavyweight Championship from him at WrestleMania 41 later this month.

Of course, one week ago, we had Gunther and Jimmy Uso going one-on-one, with the Austrian toying with Jimmy before finally putting Big Jim to sleep. That was only half the story, though, for the post-match saw Gunther attack both Usos, zip-tie Jey to the ring ropes, then make Main Event watch helplessly as Gunther brutally bloodied Jimmy just mere inches away from Jey's reach.

Last night's Raw saw a cocky, smiling Gunther make his way out to the ring, proudly parade his WWE World Heavyweight Title as he stood on the commentary table, only to be immediately interrupted by Jey Uso. Make no mistake about it, this was not the standard Yeet Man, as he stoically made his way through the crowd rather than making his usual explosive entrance.

Once Jey got to the ring, he started by knocking Gunther's microphone out of his hand, then proceeded to ask his WrestleMania opponent about his family, most specifically about his mother. From there, Jey explained how he had to let his own mother know that her son - as in, Jimmy Uso - had been hospitalised last week. When asked by his mom why he didn't protect Jimmy, Jey honestly told her it was because he was afraid of Gunther.

After Jey had detailed Gunther's actions of last week, he recalled how this all led to a lightbulb moment that means he's now no longer afraid of Gunther. Jey wrapped things up by telling Gunther to hug and kiss his family before WrestleMania, and that Jey will say a prayer the night before 'Mania, asking for forgiveness for the man he's about to become, and then reiterated that he will take the World Heavyweight Championship from Gunther at the Showcase of the Immortals.

With that, Jey Uso threw down his mic and slowly made his way out of the ring, having delivered one of the finest promos of his career. And throughout all of this, Jey even downplayed all of the Yeet chants, with him wanting the serious, sombre tone of his words to hit home.

Despite an electric feel in the immediate aftermath of Jey Uso's Royal Rumble win, the Uso vs. Gunther rivalry had somewhat sagged in previous weeks, treading water a little as we waited for WrestleMania 41 to roll around. However, the past two Raws have seen new energy injected into this match-up, with the assault on Jimmy Uso not only portraying Gunther as a maniacal, calculating beast but also allowing for a more intense Jey Uso to come to the fore.

WrestleMania 41 takes place on April 19 and 20, meaning we've just one more WWE Raw to go before the Granddaddy of Them All.
