5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Saturday Night's Main Event (24 May - Results & Review)
1. Worst Cena Backstage Segment Ever?

John Cena has been a part of some pretty dismal, awful segments during his 20-plus years in WWE. There’s probably a list somewhere out there detailing the embarrassing interviews and exchanges. But Saturday night’s confrontation with Jey Uso might rank as one of the worst ever, and honestly, a case could be made for it to top the charts given how long Cena has been in Hollywood.
Cena delivered a horrible promo so wooden that termites were getting excited while he spoke. It’s less than 90 seconds, but it felt like a lifetime. The two world champions running into each other should have been a big moment, not an opportunity to mock one of the champs.
It’s not worth transcribing the entire thing, but the closing line – “Sounds like that would almost… ruin wrestling. Gosh, that’s a lot of pressure for your match tonight.” – might as well have been read off a cue card that came with stage instructions to sound as emotionless and robotic as possible.
Awful, terrible, horrible stuff. This Cena farewell tour has simply exposed the 17-time world champion as completely, utterly washed. He can’t go in the ring, on the mic, and probably not on commentary either. The only thing he had to offer was nostalgia, and that’s been flushed for this ill-advised heel turn. What an utter waste.
