5 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE SmackDown (April 5 - Results & Review)

2. That Low Energy Kickoff

SmackDown opened with Kevin Owens inviting Randy Orton onto the KO Show so they could gang up on Logan Paul and tell the world how much they despise him. Thrilling, eh? Nah, this segment didn't cut it at all. The build towards 'Mania's Triple Threat has honestly felt so forced, and this was a prime example.

No pun intended.

The road to this three-way has totally lacked any of the intensity or vibes Kev's one-on-one rivalry with Paul had. Worse, Wade Barrett referred to the babyface duo's quest to find LP as a Benny Hill skit. That kinda sums up how lame the whole booking ploy has been. Chalk this one up to experience.

WWE's writers should know better though. They need told that they had something special on their hands with Orton vs. Logan in a singles. People were into that thought, but KO's own feud with Paul needed something more so he's third-wheeling when he shouldn't be.

Creative painted themselves into that corner.
