5 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dark (Sep 22)

3. Will Hobbs vs. Serpentico

A potentially fun match between two good wrestlers undone by overbooking.

Serpentico has looked good in recent outings and Will Hobbs is usually great, having seemingly won his AEW contract on the back of impressive showings on Dark, against Darby Allin on Dynamite, and in All Out's Casino Battle Royale. There was no real need for this bout to be so interference-heavy, particularly as the heel lost. It was, though, and Luther's ringside presence dragged this down.

'The Original Death Dealer' got involved several times, whether he was helping Serpentico while the referee's back was turned or catching Hobbs' attention. Will got to show off some of his eye-catching work but the match's momentum swings came almost exclusively from Luther. A weird choice, though at least Will took the W.
