5 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Apr 7)

1. Duel Of The Iron Mike

Mike Tyson Chris Jericho
AEW

Your enjoyment of the night's big Pinnacle vs. Inner Circle developments will hinge on how you feel about AEW's continued use of convicted rapist Mike Tyson in big spots. Whether or not Tyson is reformed, these concerns are valid. Enjoying entertainment is entirely subjective and there are big questions to be asked about pro wrestling promotions continually using people who have committed (or are alleged to have committed) awful things to pop numbers.

Tyson saved The Inner Circle from The Pinnacle, beating Shawn Spears up before shaking hands and posing with Chris Jericho. He'll serve as a special enforcer in Jericho's match with Dax Harwood next week. Understandably, this will run people off.

Prior to all this, Jericho cut an absolutely tremendous babyface promo on The Pinnacle. This was excellent stuff. Ripping My Jerkoff Friend for his bad fake tan (while slathered in the stuff himself), Jericho copped to being outsmarted the other week, apologised for his past misgivings, put his stablemates over, and ripped The Pinnacle one by one, all with the aim of announcing the big Blood and Guts match for 5 May.

Jericho works as a babyface because he's such an egomaniac that when the crowd show even a lick of sympathy, of course he's going to start sucking up to them again. He's that guy. Here, he was sharp-witted and cocky, ripping The Pinnacle without burying them.
