Speaking of which, just what was the point of Shane McMahon's extremely protracted segment in which he repeatedly abused announcer and unabashed brown brogue wearer Mike Rome until he delivered his name in the desired timbre?

Sure, it made Shane look like a complete t*sser, which is the stated objective, but with The Miz out of town, what precisely was the short-term payoff? This is a one-off audience: give them what they want. Don't spend ten minutes piling heat on a non-wrestler stretching the show's credibility at the best of times, only to have him walk away unscathed, even if both men did play their parts to a point.

The reference to Bret Hart's Hall of Fame attack was also a little, well, odd.
