5 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Jan 31)

3. Lita With The Simple Ask

It’s gonna be hard to score the closing moments of Raw, which saw a dream match get booked in a matter of seconds.

Becky Lynch was still in the ring after Ronda Rousey had left, when Lita came out to chat up Big Time Becks and set her up for the big ask. After noting that Lynch was a fighting champ, Lita challenged her to a title match at Elimination Chamber. Becky tried to dodge, but Lita was ready by telling her that if she was scared, she should just say so. This fired Lynch up and she accepted.

Just like that, we got a dream match booked for the Raw Women’s Championship. No elaborate setup, no part-timer winning the Royal Rumble, no authority figure stepping in. It was just the challenger laying it out there and getting the match on the strength of her resume. While that doesn’t always work, it’s refreshing to see a title match get set up in a simple and direct manner rather than some drawn-out method or dumb championship contender’s match.

Here's hoping the match lives up to expectations.
