5 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE Survivor Series 2020

5. Same Hackneyed Ending

Dominik Mysterio The Miz

The Survivor Series kickoff show match featured a battle royal that could have been interesting, but instead it fell back on one of WWE’s most overdone tropes.

The match wound down to the last three: Miz, Chad Gable and Dominik Mysterio, leaving Raw at a disadvantage (if you actually care about that sort of thing). Miz got knocked to the outside, leaving Gable and Mysterio to battle it out. Dominik tossed Gable, then celebrated like an idiot, only for Miz to slip back in and toss the younger Mysterio.

This isn’t to fault the booking of Miz winning – it’s probably the right call with him holding the Money in the Bank briefcase – and even falling back on underhanded tactics fits his character. But WWE seems to end these meaningless over-the-top matches the same way constantly, with a heel hiding on the floor and emerging at the end to toss an idiot who is celebrating because s/he thinks they’ve won.

Maybe if WWE didn’t do this so often, we could have overlooked it, but NOPE.
