5 Ups & 9 Downs From WWE Raw (Fb 28)

4. New Champ, New Heel

Poor Damian Priest. Just a few months ago, he was being talked about in some circles as an outside shot at winning the Royal Rumble and challenging for a world title at WrestleMania. Then the creative team took an interest in him and saddled him with a split personality gimmick.

The months of floundering finally gave way Monday night when Priest lost it all, losing his United States Championship to Finn Balor and then turning heel afterwards, calling out the fans who’ve sat on their hands in recent weeks (due to the piss-poor booking) and laying out Finn with a Razor’s Edge on the announce desk.

At least as a heel, Priest can reinvigorate his character a bit and hopefully get away from this Jekyll and Hyde character and chart out a better path for himself. For Finn, here’s hoping this isn't a short, heatless run as a secondary champ.
