5. Tom Phillips Failed Geography

Here’s hoping Bad Bunny’s manager was in Vince McMahon’s face on Monday night after his lead Raw announcer made a horrific geography mistake.

During the Damian Priest/Angel Garza match, Phillips was explaining how Priest and new running buddy Bad Bunny actually grew up in the same town in Puerto Rico. That was a pretty nice little item, but then he went off the reservation: “It’s great to have that connection with someone from your home country.”

One small problem: Puerto Rico is not a country. It’s a U.S territory. Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens. We just went through this three years ago when Hurricane Maria hit the island in late 2017 and some people complained about aid going to help a foreign land… because many of us Americans are dumb. (Sorry, this writer will say it.)

You might say that it was a slip of the tongue, but there’s no way that line wasn’t prepped and fed to Phillips to say by the writers or someone in Gorilla. He didn’t create the line out of thin air to blab it suddenly. This was a scripted line by someone whose 5th-grade social studies teacher should be embarrassed.
