5 Ups And 1 Down From Last Night's NXT

Another big Pat on the back for the black and gold brand.

In a moment of very rare luxury, NXT beamed out on the USA Network last night safe in the knowledge that nobody would be changing the channel in the hope of finding a better wrestling show. Instead, bashing the remote looking for literally anything else.

With no AEW until the weekend, they were free to sculpt their go-home show for TakeOver XXX however which way they deemed fit. Plus, with all-but-one of the matches on the card locked in, they even had the luxury to experiment a bit, or sow some seeds for future shows.

But putting all serious wrestling endeavours to one side, the major draw of this evening's show was seeing the lasted chapter in the Adam Cole / Pat McAfee story. With only the scantest few weeks of build it's become one of the show's most captivating angles of 2020, and birthed a potential mega-star (in whatever industry he fancies) in McAfee.

Somehow the eye-rolling WWE pundit with the worst clothes you've seen on a grown man, has become unmissable pro-wrestling theatre. What this means for him, the show, and Cole, remains to be seen. So let's see it! Obviously!
