5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Dec 17)

2. Tyler Breeze Loses To Titus O'Neil

There are reports that Smackdown may act as a gateway for NXT on the main roster come January. On one level, this promises an exciting influx of talent and a genuine selling point for the show. On the other, it provides the opportunity for the creative team to make more poor decisions like the one involving Tyler Breeze. 'Prince Pretty' must wish he was back in NXT, because Smackdown was a low point. In under 3 minutes, Breeze was staring at the lights for Titus O'Neil. The winner is a fine personality, but he doesn't have much upward mobility on the roster. He's a tag-team wrestler more often than not, whereas Tyler is supposed to be a hot new act on the scene. Right now, he looks like a colossal loser, dropping to both O'Neil on Smackdown and Neville before that on Raw. Admittedly, the match was designed to promote a feud between Breeze and Goldust. Even so, the brief nature of the bout did nothing for Tyler, he was barely even permitted to look competitive about O'Neil. The finish was built around Goldust providing a distraction, but this is not a good sign for Tyler Breeze. At the very least, his rivalry against Goldust should be short, and end in Breeze going over the veteran.
