5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Jan 7)

2. Divas Title Match Knocks It Out Of The Park

Charlotte and Becky Lynch have faced one another a fair few times over the past few months, but now they can finally let loose. On Monday Night Raw, the match was portrayed as friends sparring, before Charlotte turned heel outright on Becky post-match. This provided some spice for their tussle on Smackdown, and this time it was for the Divas Title. Going close to 15 minutes, both women came out of the match looking stronger as characters. There are still some hang-ups relating to Ric Flair's constant involvement, but at least it now works more logically due to Charlotte outing herself as a heel. Few know how to work any better as a villain than Flair, so he should be able to aid his daughter there. The best part of the match was the fact that both Lynch and Charlotte stuck to their roles. As the plucky babyface, Becky worked well, whilst Charlotte hammed it up as a callous heel. There's some more mileage to be gleaned from another match between the pair, possibly at the Royal Rumble. There's also space for Paige to reinsert herself back into this war between former Team PCB members.
