5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (June 30)

3. Sheamus & Apollo Crews Feud Doesn't Seem To Have Much Steam

The chief idea with issues between Sheamus and Apollo Crews should be to get the latter firmly over with fans. Sheamus would gain little by coming out on the winning end of the feud anyway, whereas Crews really needs to have the opportunity to show some more personality during his segments.

On SmackDown, both were involved in a 4-way match to determine a new top contender for the WWE United States Title. Cesaro and Alberto Del Rio were the other men in the bout, one which told a nice story for Cesaro in particular. There were no immediate problems with the interaction between Sheamus and Crews, but it just doesn't feel too exciting.

There's a sense that the feud is meandering right now. Crews won at Money In The Bank, yet he hasn't really been elevated. The fact WWE feel the need to continue the rivalry proves that, it's just killing time. Thankfully, they were involved in a hot match on SmackDown, but another pay-per-view battle feels unnecessary.
