5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (March 10)

1. Chris Jericho Continues To Be Awesome As A Heel

Some may have a problem with AJ Styles losing again, but the defeat wasn't due to his own faults. Owens was opportunistic, capitalising on Chris Jericho's interference to pick up the win. There's nothing wrong with the result, it was actually one which made perfect sense. Owens gains a win as Intercontinental Champion, and the AJ vs. Y2J story is furthered. On that note, Jericho has simply been on fire since turning heel. During the past few years, his babyface performances have felt a little out-of-date at times, but he's been made relevant by turning rogue. AJ Styles was the perfect foil for such a turn, because he's a fresh face in the WWE system that fans have taken to quickly. On Smackdown, it was the Canadian heel who flourished. Jericho's facial expressions were brilliant when he dropped AJ with a well-placed Codebreaker. Grabbing the microphone, he then ironically chanted for Styles, and the fans were all over it. It's a credit to both men that their program is working so well, because Jericho is actually getting the heel reactions to go along with his turn. That's becoming more and more rare nowadays, but it just shows how good he is. On Smackdown, Jericho proved that once again.
