5 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (May 26)

2. Goldust & R-Truth Build Eventually Meant Nothing

After months of build-up, Goldust and R-Truth's big tag-team union boiled down to a 90 second loss against Tyler Breeze and Fandango. Now, all of those backstage skits designed to sell the premise of the pair uniting seem pointless, it was all just a waste of air time.

Admittedly, Breeze and Fandango are best-placed as a team right now. WWE clearly don't have anything in the pipeline for either man individually, so having them come together is a good idea short term. Better yet, their pretty-boy gimmicks are similar, so there's something to work with.

That small positive doesn't change the fact that Goldust and R-Truth as a team now looks silly. Hearing Goldust tell Truth backstage that the 'WWE Universe' want them to team up was ludicrous, segments involving both men have only yielded bad comedy. To say there's a demand is a little far-fetched.
