5 Ups And 3 Downs From UFC 246

4. Flyweight Fun

If you're not a fan of watching the smaller weight classes, we can't implore you enough to watch the very entertaining battle between Tim Elliot and Askar Askarov on the preliminary card. Their extremely energetic scrap was a great example of mixed martial arts, as both men had success on the feet and on the ground.

The first round saw Elliot be as close to being knocked out as you'll ever see. Askarov landed a overhand right that stopped Elliot in his tracks briefly before he regained his composure and shot for a takedown. Askarov continued to have success during the round, taking the American down and landing some decent ground and pound.

If Askarov thought it would only be a matter of time before Elliot would succumb to his pressure, then Elliot completely spoiled those plans by having an incredible resurgence in the second round. He landed multiple hip tosses on Askarov and landed some good strikes, but could never land the kill shot.

The third round was a close one, with both men having moments to sway the judges in their favour. However, it was Askarov who walked away from the fight with the victory in the end.
