5 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Oct 15)

2. Rusev/Lana/Summer Rae/Dolph Ziggler Situation Straightened Out

Finally, after months of convoluted angles, segments and matches, WWE look to be creeping towards conclusion on this epic saga. Lana hasn't been seen on television for a good while now, due to injury, and the angle has stalled incredibly since she hasn't been around. Summer Rae, to her credit, has tried to come out of her shell as a performer, but there just hasn't been enough to work with. With each passing week, fan interest has dwindled in her love triangle scenario also involving Rusev and Dolph Ziggler. On Smackdown, things came to a head. Summer was the 'Special Guest Referee' for a match between Ziggler and Rusev. Dolph left with his hand raised, but distanced himself from the Diva afterwards. Similarly, Rae herself has moved away from Rusev in storyline. This means the story is about to come to a close. Short of Lana returning and creative having a change of mind, the sorry angle is all but over. In truth, fans seem more relieved about this than anything else, because the story wasn't connecting with those around ringside. It's a major plus that lines were drawn on Smackdown.
