5 Ups And 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (June 24)
The Finn Balor Story continues...
The Finn Balor - Kevin Owens rivalry finally took the spotlight last night at Full Sail University. With the NXT champ feuding with Cena and Samoa Joe (and even finding time to build a little animosity with Hideo Itami in there as well), his upcoming blockbuster match with Balor at the Tokyo Dome was in danger of being given the short shrift, but no more. With a combination of video packages and compelling in-ring drama, NXT managed to ratchet up the build for the Network-Exclusive live event, set to air a week from Saturday. NXT title picture aside, it was a solid if not spectacular NXT last night. There wasn't a 'bad match' on the card, but there a number of absences that were keenly felt. Tyler Breeze, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Solomon Crowe were all missed, but that's just what you get when you're only given an hour a week. Last night's card in full, including each finish: Enzo & Big Cass vs Jason Jordan and Sylvester Lefort Enzo rolled up Jordan for the victory. Dana Brooke vs Cassie Dana pinned Cassie after hitting her with her Samoan Driver finisher. The Hype Bros vs Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton Mojo Rawley pinned Dawkins after the double Rough Ryder. Finn Balor vs Rhyno Balor pins Rhyno after hitting the Coup de Grace.
