5 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Dec 11)

2. Lazy Booking

If you watch wrestling long enough, you know how to think one or two steps further down the line than the announcers will let on.

Case in point, Monday’s main event was designed to determine the #1 contender for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship. But Kane and Braun Strowman fought to a double countout, leaving the announcers to wonder what this meant for the Royal Rumble.

The easy, obvious answer is that we’ll likely get a triple threat between Kane, Braun and Brock at the Rumble, which is not unprecedented (the 2015 Rumble world title match was also a triple threat), but it’s also incredibly lazy booking to hold a #1 contender’s match and have it end in a double countout.

If WWE was looking to have Kane take the fall but have Braun in the match to add some clout, then find a better way than resorting to an overused trope.
